Starting Your Own Freelance Business
Introduction to the Project
I decided to start my own freelance writing business. I love writing, I prefer to work on my own schedule, and I network well online. It seemed natural. But, I didn't know how to go about it.
So, I posted a few threads and participated in others on the four forums I frequent. Two things happened that amazed me. The first thing was that dozens of people responded with volumes of great advice that was exactly what I needed. I had hoped for that response, certainly, and was pleased by it. The second thing was that I received personal messages from quite a few people who said they were in the same boat and wanted to know if I had any more information!
Well. A little light went on in my head, and I decided that the best possible solution would be to take all the advice I had been given, the wonderful generous advice of the wonderful generous forum members involved, and write up an article, and put it online for everyone to read.
In the end, I had more than I could fit in just one article, so it's a multi-part feature. This is just the introduction.
To start off with, these are the forum threads to which I will be referring. (Some may require you to register to read them. Some may be locked. Some may have been moved. But I'm linking to them as best I can. I do strongly encourage anyone interested to

The plan is that as I update my blog, it will automatically fill in this paragraph. It's an easy way to ensure that my site's front page is up-to-date, and as thousands of people do it, it shouldn't be impossible to set up. For the moment it has eluded me. (I had intended on having a custom solution for content management, but that's taking the hamsters in the back longer to generate than I thought. Perhaps I should have used monkeys and typewriters, instead. I was trying to be original.)
So, for the moment, I'm using blogger, but haven't configured it yet. That should be up over the weekend.
